Causes of Cellulite

There are various different theories as to the causes of cellulite.  Some in the medical community believe that the condition is inherited.  Others believe it is hormonal.   Some say that all women have cellulite while others regard it as a specific condition.

Cellulite is often called unflattering names like “cottage cheese skin” and “orange peel skin.”  This is because, depending upon the amount of fat a woman has on her body, the cellulite can resemble lumpy cottage cheese or the rough texture of orange peel.

There are four different levels of cellulite, according to doctors.  The fourth level is the most severe and the point where the cellulite becomes noticeable.  The other levels will not be noticeable or will give an appearance of roughness, such as an orange peel.  One thing is certain and that is that cellulite is a skin condition that is caused by estrogen.  How this comes about is still unknown.

Cellulite usually appears shortly after puberty.  It is very common with most women.  While it is believed to be something that is caused because you are overweight, this is not the case.  Even thin women can have cellulite.  It is more noticeable, however, if you have more weight.

Men do not suffer from cellulite unless they are estrogen treatments for prostrate disease.   The causes of cellulite seem to be having estrogen, which is all due to being a woman.  Trying to get rid of estrogen is difficult because it is related to hormones.  Many doctors believe that women need a place to store extra fat so that they can bear children.  In short, cellulite is natural for most women.

Having cottage cheese skin, however, does not have to be natural.  There are many different methods that can be used to treat this condition.  This includes certain exercises, creams and even liposuction.  The less fat there is around the areas of the affected skin, such as on the thighs, buttocks and abdomen, the less noticeable the cellulite is on the body.

The methods that you use to treat cellulite will depend on your determination or your budget.  Some methods, such as topical creams, are more affordable than laser technology that is very effective at removing cellulite.  Laser technology, however, is one of the most effective and innovative ways to treat cellulite today.

It is essential to tighten the skin to treat cellulite.  Laser technology and creams can tighten the skin as can certain exercises.  This gives allows the cellulite to virtually disappear.  The cream will not permanently tighten the skin and needs to be used all of the time.  Exercises take time to work.  Laser technology is the only way to instantly remove the appearance of cellulite.

Cellulite can return so it is important to have follow up treatments if you opt for laser technology to treat cellulite.  Again, the method that you use to treat this unsightly condition is up to you.  If you are feeling embarrassed about cellulite on your skin, find a way to treat this embarrassing but very common condition.
